Unique female gong team in Central Highlands

People often refer to boys, carrying big gongs and beating and dancing to the music of the Central Highlands. However in Trap village, Dak Lak province, gongs were played by women.

Referring to the melody of the Central Highlands gongs, people often refer to boys, carrying big gongs and beating and dancing to the music with the majestic sound of the Central Highlands. However, in Trap village, Krong Ana district, Dak Lak province, gongs were played by the Ede Bih ethnic women.

Without the big gongs and with no need to be so fussy that there must be 12 gongs or more, only six small gongs and a drum player to keep the rhythm  echo across the whole mountain area of Truong village in Krong Ana district.

Due to the tradition of the Ede Bih ethnic, the girls became the best choice to teach gongs, thus inheriting and creating the sound of deep and simple gongs.-VNA
