Unique light sculpture honours late Party leader

The carved wooden elements of this sculpture may appear ordinary, but when illuminated, they cast a shadow of a heartfelt portrait of the late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The author of this artwork is Bui Van Tu, a young artist from Bat Trang Pottery Village in Hanoi.

Inspired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s legacy of “bamboo diplomacy”, the artisan has crafted a light sculpture, namely “Vietnamese bamboo,” in commemoration of the Party leader.

It is difficult to define the exact genre of art that Tu is pursuing, but he refers to it as “light sculpture.”

Through the use of projection art, old, rugged driftwood are transformed into unique and vibrant works.

These sculptures not only become striking visual pieces but also convey stories and messages.

Dedicated to the light sculpture over the past decade, Tu has crafted hundreds of pieces featuring the Vietnamese life, culture, people, and history.

He made debut a number of collections, such as “Lighting up the history,” which celebrates 14 Vietnamese national heroes, and the “Soldiers’ Footprints, Peace Aspirations,” honoring fall soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the national independence./.
