Chinh Vuong, a collector and seller based in Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi, has curated a collection of nearly ten commemorative banknotes featuring snake designs.
His collection includes a gold-plated 2 USD bill, a 10,000 Cruzeiros note from Brazil, and a snake-themed banknote from Macau (China)—all issued by various central banks worldwide.
According to Chinh, interest in these unique banknotes has grown since early 2024. Among the most sought-after are those featuring snakes, which symbolize intelligence, agility, and the Year of the Snake.
In addition to paper currency, snake-themed coins—both gold-and silver-plated—are also in high demand among collectors.
Prices for these commemorative banknotes vary:
- Macau 1 million Patacas note – 20,000 dong per note
- Australian gold- and silver-plated snake coin set (with red silk pouch) – 80,000 dong per pair
- Brazil 10,000 Cruzeiros note – 80,000 dong per note
Beyond snake-themed banknotes, many customers are also drawn to bills with auspicious meanings—symbolizing prosperity, success, and blessings—as well as vintage Vietnamese banknotes and rare serial-numbered notes for Lunar New Year 2025./.
