US Assistant Secretary to tour Vietnam, Northeast Asian nations

US Assistant Secretary for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance Frank A. Rose will travel to Vietnam along with three Northeast Asian countries from July 5 – 16, the US Secretary of State said on its website on July 2.

The tour to Vietnam and China,the Republic of Korea, and Japan is for meetings and external events onspace security, missile defense, arms control, and other bilateral andmultilateral security topics.

During his stay inVietnam’s capital city of Hanoi on July 13-14, Assistant Secretary Rosewill have meetings at the Vietnam National Satellite Centre and engagewith senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on issuesrelated to space security and multilateral arms control.

Before that, he will travel to Beijing, China from July 6-9 fordiscussions on mutual strategic interests with the Ministry of ForeignAffairs and the Chinese Space National Agency.

FromJuly 9-10, Assistant Secretary Rose will be in Seoul, the Republic ofKorea, where he will meet with senior officials at the Ministry ofForeign Affairs and at the Blue House to discuss space security and arange of other strategic issues.

He will concludehis travels in Tokyo, Japan, from July 14-16 with meetings with theMinistry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, and the Cabinet Officeon ways to further reinforce seamless cooperation building upon theUS-Japan partnership spanning seventy years.-VNA

Hanoi, Vientiane promote comprehensive cooperation in new phase

The capitals of Vietnam and Laos signed memoranda of understanding on joint work in the fields of public communication and mass mobilisation, women and youth affairs, foreign relations, industry and trade, education and health care.
