The US-based medical-technology corporation Masimo has handed over 105 devices for measuring oxygen intake, worth 160,000 USD, to help support neo-natal intensive-care units in 95 Vietnamese hospitals.
The handing over took place in the framework of a workshop on intensive care for neo-natal babies in Hanoi on August 10, which provided training for 190 neo-natal doctors and nurses from the beneficiary hospitals on the use of oxygen for treating infants in intensive care.
The pulse oxymeters devices for measuring oxygen intake are expected to serve more than 30,000 Vietnamese babies each year.
The devices were channelled through the East Meets West Foundation’s Breath of Life programme, which aims to reduce neonatal mortality and morbidity in developing countries./.
