US ends investigation on Vietnam’s steel pipe

The  US has decided to terminate its investigation of Vietnam's circular welded carbon-quality steel pipe.
The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has decided to terminate its countervailing duty (CVD) investigation of circular welded carbon-quality steel pipe from Vietnam.

The DOC made its final determination on the case after investigations showed that neither of the two Vietnamese mandatory respondents - SeAH Steel VINA Corp. and Vietnam Haiphong Hongyuan Machinery Manufactory Co., Ltd. - received countervailable subsidies.

Accordingly, the CVD investigation of steel pipe from Vietnam will be terminated.

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) is scheduled to make its final injury determination in the steel pipe cases involving Vietnam, India, Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on November 14, 2012.

On October 26, 2011, some US steel companies lodged an anti-dumping lawsuit to the DOC and ITC against welded carbon-quality steel pipes imported from Vietnam, India, Oman and the UAE. Later, on November 15, the DOC officially launched investigations into the case.

The welded carbon-quality steel pipe is used for handling water and other liquids and gases under low pressures in plumbing, heating and cooling systems, and for other uses.-VNA
