Vietnam is among five countries suffering from the US’s extension of existing anti-dumping duty orders on their frozen shrimps.

On March 15, the US International Trade Commission voted 5-1 to maintain anti-dumping duties on frozen shrimp imported from Thailand, China, Brazil, India, and Vietnam saying those countries export their shrimps at unfairly low prices.

However, the US move is considered to protect their shrimp fishermen in Mexico Gulf, one of the US poorest areas that is struggling against the aftermaths of Hurricane Katrina and last year’s BP oil spill.

The trade tariffs were imposed for the first time in 2005 and their extension will last until 2016./.
