US Senator John McCain met with students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMC USSH), part of the Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City , on May 29.
The US senator expressed his delight over returning to Vietnam on the occasion of the 20 th anniversary of the normalisation of Vietnam-US relations, adding that the bilateral relations have progressed significantly since 1995.
The Trans-Pacific Partnership, once concluded, will bring more success to the two countries’ relationship, McCain said.
He voiced his concern over recent developments in the East Sea and noted that he supported the settlement of East Sea issues based on international law.
Principal of the HCMC USSH Vo Van Sen believed the meeting between the US senator and Vietnam ’s next generation was a sound opportunity for strengthening Vietnam-US ties.
