US volunteers teaching English to help boost ties

The US sending Peace Corps Volunteers to teach English in Vietnam will contribute to promoting the comprehensive partnership between the two countries as well as educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang has said.

Hanoi (VNA) - The US sending Peace Corps Volunteers to teach Englishin Vietnam will contribute to promoting the comprehensive partnership betweenthe two countries as well as educational cooperation and people-to-peopleexchanges, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang has said.

At a regular pressconference on August 6 in Hanoi, Hang explained that Vietnam and the US on July10 officially signed an agreement on English teaching of the Peace Corpsprogramme based on the Vietnam-US framework agreement signed in 2016.

The agreementprescribes the scope of cooperation, the number of volunteers to be sent toVietnam in the first two years, the type of educational institutions where thevolunteers will work, and their activities, she added.

It is among theimportant activities marking the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-USdiplomatic ties, according to Hang./.

Foreign policy contributes to propelling Vietnam into new era

2024 saw Vietnam significantly expanding its diplomatic activities with numerous partners and at various important multilateral forums and mechanisms. The country’s key leaders conducted a total of 60 external activities, including paying 21 visits to foreign countries and attend major multilateral conferences, as well as hosting 25 delegations of foreign leaders to Vietnam.
