New York (VNA) – Peaceful measures based on international law are re-confirmed as solutions to disputes in the East Sea, as heard a workshop in the US’s Boston city.
Held by the Vietnamese association for students and professors in the US, workshop participants explored current geopolitical matters in the region and possible scenarios in the near future.
Reports delivered tracked previous disputes arisen in the East Sea as well as responses taken by involved parties.
They discussed the actual militarisation in the area and its effects on regional and global peace and stability.
They also highlighted the role of the engaging countries and international organisations in finding solutions to address the disputes via peaceful means and in line with international law.
Some experts proposed the US maintain its presence in the region to make active contributions to ensuring navigation safety and security in the East Sea.-VNA
