The relics will be open for public worship and veneration at Hanoi-based Quan Su Pagoda from 6 am to 9 pm from May 14-16. They will then be transferred to Tam Chuc Pagoda in the northern province of Ha Nam from May 17-21, before being returned to India.
The Buddha’s sacred Śarīra is enshrined at the Buddhist exhibition centre within the tourist site from May 8 to 13, allowing Buddhist followers and the public to pay their respects during the Vesak celebrations.
In the lead-up to the 20th United Nations Day of Vesak, a range of Buddhist cultural activities were held on May 3 around the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City.
Events included the ceremonial opening of a relic viewing of the Buddha’s sarira, an exhibition of Buddhist fine arts, and a culinary festival.
Themed “Unity and Inclusivity for Human Dignity: Buddhist Insights for World Peace and Sustainable Development,” Vesak 2025 is scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from May 6-8.
The 20th United Nations Day of Vesak Celebrations (Vesak 2025), scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from May 6-8, heard a press conference held by Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Executive Council in Hanoi on April 22.
Vesak 2025 is expected to strengthen exchanges and friendship between the Vietnamese people and international friends, and affirm Vietnam’s position and responsibility to the UN and the international community.
Cultural exchange events and sideline activities of Vesak 2025 will be organised early from May 2, including festivals in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
