Vientiane ceremony marks 60 years of Vietnam’s public security expert force in Laos

The Lao Ministry of Public Security in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and the representative office of Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security in Laos have held a meeting to mark the 60th anniversary of Vietnam sending public security experts to the country (March 22, 1961-2021).

Vientiane (VNA) - The Lao Ministry of PublicSecurity in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and therepresentative office of Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security in Laos have helda meeting to mark the 60th anniversary of Vietnam sending public securityexperts to the country (March 22, 1961-2021).

The meeting was attended by member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party(LPRP)’s Politburo and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence GeneralChansamone Chanyalath, member of the LPRP’s Politburo and Minister of PublicSecurity Senior Lieutenant General Vilay Lakhamphong, former Lao Deputy PM andformer Minister of Public Security Asang Laoly, Vietnamese Ambassador to LaosNguyen Ba Hung, and head of the representative office of the Ministry of PublicSecurity in Laos, Major General Hoang Quang Huong, among others.

In his address, Minister of Public Security Vilay Lakhamphong recalled thehistorical context and situation when the Vietnamese public security expertforce was formed in Laos, stressing that generations of experts overcamenumerous difficulties and accepted the sacrifices to help the Lao People’sPublic Security force develop.

He underlined that the Vietnamese public security expert force in Laosaccompanied Laos’ struggle for national liberation and defence as well as thedevelopment of the Lao People’s Public Security force.

He affirmed that the Party, State, and people of Laos always remember the valuableand whole-hearted support from the Party, State, and people of Vietnam duringall stages of Laos’ revolutionary cause in the past and national constructionat present.

On behalf of the Party, State, and people and thePeople’s Public Security force of Laos, the minister expressed his sinceregratitude to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, especially leaders andofficers from Vietnam’s People’s Public Security force who work in Laos to assistits Ministry of Public Security.

The Party, State, and people of Laos and the People’sPublic Security force of Laos in particular always pay great attention to thespecial friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, hestated, pledging that they will do their utmost to maintain and reinforce tiesand make them last forever.

Meanwhile, former Lao Minister of Public Security AsangLaoly highly appreciated the whole-hearted support from Vietnamese publicsecurity experts to the public security force of Laos over the past sixdecades, describing it as valuable and strategic assistance that helped build basicfoundations for the development of Laos’ public security force.

For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung thanked the Lao side forcreating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese public security experts,helping them overcome the difficulties and hardships to complete their assignedtasks in protecting security, social order, and safety in both countries, forpeace and the happiness of the Vietnamese and Lao people.

On the occasion, the Party and State of Laos presentedthe Itsala (Freedom) Order, Second Class, to the representative office ofVietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and the third-class Itsala Order to MajorGeneral Hoang Quang Huong, in recognition of their efforts in the safeguardingof public security in both countries, contributing to reinforcing andaccelerating the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensivecooperation between the two.

Within theframework of the meeting, a book on the history of the Vietnamese PublicSecurity expert force in Vietnamese was handed over to the Ministry of PublicSecurity of Laos. A photo exhibition on 60 years of Vietnam’s publicsecurity expert force in Laos was also held./.

Ho Chi Minh City, EU boast ample room for sustainable development cooperation

Vietnam ready to strengthen BRICS connection with Asia-Pacific

Hang called on countries to act responsibly in accordance with international law and the UN Charter; respect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of states; refrain from using or threatening to use force; and settle disputes peacefully through dialogue. She also underscored the importance of ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation through straits in line with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Photo exhibition highlights Vietnam–DPRK relations

Visitors at the exhibition were moved by historical photographs dating back nearly 70 years, including images of the founding leader of the DPRK Kim Il Sung personally welcoming President Ho Chi Minh and a CPV delegation at Pyongyang’s Sunan International Airport during their visit to the DPRK from July 8–12, 1957. In return, the DPRK leader paid an official visit to Vietnam from November 27 to December 3, 1958.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vientiane strengthen cooperation for 2026–2030
