Lord Mayor of the Lao capital Vientiane Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune sought Hanoi’s sharing of successful management models and experience as well as assistance in building of the Capital Law.
During his talks with Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao in Hanoi on October 24, the Vientiane leader also asked for Hanoi’s cooperation in the consumption of farm products, tourism and personnel training as well.
That assistance is necessary, Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune said, reasoning that Vientiane is dealing with decreasing budget collection and complicated social problems, among others.
Thao assured his guest that Hanoi will do its utmost to reinforce its traditional friendship with Vientiane since it always prioritises expanding its affiliation with the city.
The two capitals have recently enjoyed flourishing relations and their trust and closeness is growing, Thao said, referring to the implementation of cooperation programmes in the economy, culture, education, agriculture and forestry.
He introduced orientations for future bilateral ties, laying an emphasis on accelerating multi-faceted cooperation and adjusting mechanisms and policies to better the execution of signed agreements and those to be inked.
Hanoi has established friendly and cooperative ties with over 100 capitals and cities across the world. It has set up trade and investment partnerships with 187 countries and territories.
Also on October 24, the Vientiane guest was received by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Secretary of Hanoi’s Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi.-VNA
