Vietnam active in ASEAN-EP relations

The Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium, as rotating Chair of the ASEAN Brussels Committee (ABC) in the second half of the year, successfully hosted a working visit of ambassadors of ASEAN member countries in Belgium to the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg in France from Oct. 26-27.

Within the framework of the visit, theASEAN ambassadors paid a courtesy visit to EP President Jerzy Buzek.They also met with EP Deputy President Libor Roucek and the EPdelegation for relations with ASEAN countries.

At themeetings, the sides exchanged views on issues of common concern,especially efforts in dealing with the public debt crisis in Europeand ASEAN’s plan to establish an ASEAN Community by 2015.

They also discussed specific measures to further strengthen relationsbetween the national assemblies of ASEAN member countries and the EP.

Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau spoke highly ofthe fine development in relations between the Vietnamese NationalAssembly with the EP, suggesting the two sides coordinate closely toprepare for the visit to EP by Vietnamese National Assembly ChairmanNguyen Sinh Hung at the end of this year.

As part of the visit, ASEAN ambassadors attended a plenary session of the EP./.

Vietnam, Thailand strengthen sharing of legislative and oversight experience

Based on the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Vietnam’s National Assembly and Thailand’s House of Representatives, signed in 2023, Vietnam and Thailand agreed to continue exchanges of delegations at all levels, expand interactions between parliamentary friendship groups, especially the Vietnam–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group, as well as among women and young parliamentarians, while maintaining close coordination at multilateral forums.

The Vietnamese and Cambodian PMs agreed to keep shoring up the foundation of political trust and maintain close defence-security ties, pledging not to let hostile forces use either country’s territory to undermine or threaten the security and interests of the other. Vietnamese Embassy in Israel urges citizens to enhance safety measures

The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel recommended that Vietnamese nationals regularly follow alerts and instructions issued by the Israeli Home Front Command; install and use the official Home Front Command warning application; and immediately move to a safe room or shelter when air raid sirens sound. They should avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from areas considered unsafe or at risk of unsafety.
