Buenos Aires (VNA) – Representatives from ASEAN member states’ embassies in Argentina hailed Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Dinh Thao, as rotating chair of ASEAN in the country last year, for his efforts to foster intra-bloc links as well as relations between the group and Argentina.
During a session held in Buenos Aires on March 27 to review activities in 2016, Ambassadors of ASEAN member nations in Argentina pledged to further promote cooperation with the host country.
As the chairman of the bloc in Argentina in 2016, Ambassador Thao arranged many activities to promote ASEAN countries’ role and economic, trade and tourism potential in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
The Vietnamese Embassy also hosted many cultural and sport exchange events, especially a ceremony marking the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN.
On the occasion, Thao handed over the ASEAN Chairmanship in Argentina to Thai Ambassador Narisroj Fuangrabil.
Apart from Vietnam, other ASEAN member nations having embassies in Argentina include Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.-VNA
