Hanoi (VNA) – Minister ofCulture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien has asked the tourism sector to work harder to attract 18 million foreigntourists in 2019.

The target wasset at a recent conference to review the Vietnam NationalAdministration of Tourism’s performance in 2018 and sketch outits plans for 2019.

Thien requested the sector to focus on tourism promotion in majormarkets, thus luring more travellers from these markets and ensuring the growthin the number of visitors.

In2018, the Vietnamese tourism sector enjoyed impressive results with a record 15.6million international tourists and 80 million domestic travellers. Totalrevenue hit 620 trillion VND (around 26.55 billion USD).

Duringthe year, 380 new travel firms received international business licences, while4,678 individuals got new tour guide licences.-VNA

Vietnam’s tourism industry poised for strong acceleration

Vietnam to waive visas for citizens from 12 countries

The resolution clearly states that citizens of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland will be exempted from visas for a temporary stay period of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type and purpose of entry, on the basis of fully meeting the entry conditions as prescribed by Vietnam’s laws.
