Vietnam athletes shoot down gold at Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship

Vietnamese athletes Pham Quang Huy and Trinh Thu Vinh shot their way to the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2024 in Indonesia.

Their competitors were India’s Arjun Cheema and Rhythm Sangwan.

This gold medal victory at the Asian Championship represents a significant triumph for the Vietnamese Shooting Team, kicking off 2024 on a high note.

The Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2024  serves as a qualification event for the 2024 Olympics, though only the individual events will count towards Olympic qualification spots.

On January 8, Huy was unable to qualify in the Men's 10m Air Pistol event, thus missing out on securing a place for Paris 2024.

Conversely, Vinh had already secured her Olympic berth by finishing 5th in the Women's 10m Air Pistol final at the 2023 World Shooting Championships.

The elation of the Vietnamese marksmen’s community  was heightened on January 10, when Le Thi Mong Tuyen secured an additional Olympic slot for Vietnam./.
