Vietnam attends 2022 Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence conference

Hanoi (VNA) – Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chiefof the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, attended the 2022Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence (CHODs) conference in Sydney fromJuly 25 – 27.

At the invitation of Commander of United States Indo-PacificCommand Admiral John C Aquilino and Chief of the Australian Defence Force GeneralAngus Campbell, Tan joined the 24th edition of the event togetherwith senior military leaders from regional countries, including Japan, theRepublic of Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US, Canada, Chile,Colombia, France and Peru, Timor Leste, and several other ASEAN nations.

He participated in discussions in climate change andsecurity implications for the Indo-Pacific, advanced technology and its impactson the regional security, and impacts of current security threats to Indo-Pacific.

In addition to bilateral meetings with Admiral Aquilino, GeneralCampbell, Tan also met Chief of General Staff of Mongolia, Lt. Gen.Dovchinsuren Ganzorig.

CHODs is an annual event co-hosted by the US Indo-PacificCommand since 1998 to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation among chiefsof defence and armed forces of Indo-Pacific countries./.

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
