Vietnam attends 25th ASEAN Labour Ministers Meeting

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids, andSocial Affairs Doan Mau Diep joined other ASEAN member states’ labour officialsto attend the 25th ASEAN Labour Ministers Meeting (ALMM) in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia on November 28.

Themed “Promoting Green Jobs for Equity and the Inclusive Growth of ASEANCommunity”, the meeting looked to review activities in the labour sector overthe past two years and discussed measures to promote green jobs in the region.

Speaking highly of the ASEAN high-level meetings’ adoption of declarations on jobsand those enhancing labour safety and hygiene, the labour officials underlinedthat this would help promote green jobs, settle environmental impacts, andbuild the sustainable economy towards creating more jobs and ensuring socialwelfare for workers.

The documents will serve as a basis for ASEAN members to develop an integratedand equal society, they said.

In addition, the ASEAN Consensus on the Protection and Promotion of the Rightsof Migrant Workers, which has already been ratified by ASEAN leaders, was givenspecial attention at the event.

The participants lauded efforts made by all ASEAN member states, as well as theworking group on compiling the ASEAN Consensus, in building and completing theregional action plan for the 2018-2025 period. They said that this is a vividillustration of the member nations’ commitments to realising the consensus, overallcontributing to protecting the rights of migrant workers.

They also spent time reviewing and approving the ALMM’s terms of references andadopted a joint statement. –VNA

Vietnam reaffirms commitment to building resilient, inclusive and integrated ASEAN Labour Market

To this end, Vietnam proposed three strategic priorities for ASEAN cooperation. First, ASEAN should expand and harmonise mutual recognition mechanisms by increasing the scope and number of Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) in the region; and promote the role of the ASEAN TVET Council (ATC) in connecting national skills certification systems with regional and global standards, based on national occupational skills qualification frameworks and regional references.

Vietnam advances qualifications referencing to support labour mobility in ASEAN

ASEAN Armies' Open Volleyball Tournament 2026 kicks off in Hanoi
