The Vietnamese delegation at the event (Source: VNA) A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Head of the National Assembly’s Committee for Social Affairs Nguyen Thuy Anh attended a recent meeting of the Women Parliamentarians of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The event was held ahead of the meeting of the 36th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-36)’s Executive Board and the plenary session of AIPA-36 slated for the morning of September 8, with its outcomes serving as reference for the Assembly.
Participants discussed and adopted three draft resolutions on recognising the post-2015 development agenda on gender equality, promoting a culture of respect and the rights of women and girls towards inclusiveness, and strengthening legal frameworks to eliminate violence against women and children within ASEAN.
They also attended the Asia-Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development the same day.-VNA
