Vietnam attends ASOSAI Governing Board's 60th meeting

New Delhi (VNA) - A delegation of the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) led by Deputy Auditor General Bui Quoc Dung attended the 60th meeting of the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) Governing Board in the 2021-2024 in New Delhi, India on September 23.

Co-chaired by the State Audit Office of Thailand - ASOSAI President for the 2021-2024 term, and the National Audit Office of China - ASOSAI Secretary General, the event saw the participation of representatives from 12 members of the ASOSAI Governing Board, including Thailand, China, India, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Malaysia, Russia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam, along with those from the ASOSAI Audit Committee and the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) Development Initiative (IDI).

In his opening remarks, President of the State Audit Office of Thailand Chanathap Indamra expressed his pleasure at witnessing the continuous development of ASOSAI, which is reflected in the establishment of working groups to respond to emerging audit issues, and promotion of cooperation with supreme audit institutions (SAIs) and relevant international organisations to improve knowledge and experience in the field of public auditing.

Comptroller and Auditor General of India Girish Chandra Murmu said that the meeting plays a crucial role in guiding and monitoring ASOSAI's activities, and provides a platform for SAIs to enhance cooperation and exchange strategic ideas in public auditing, thus strengthening solidarity and support among SAIs.

Members of the ASOSAI Governing Board presented 18 reports covering various topics, including the activities of the board and the ASOSAI Secretariat since the 59th meeting, financial governance of ASOSAI, activities of the ASOSAI Capacity Development Committee, and the Strategic Plan of ASOSAI; the 13th ASOSAI research project and outcomes of the Bangkok Declaration; and products, and upcoming plans of the working groups on environmental auditing, sustainable development goals (SDGs), and crisis management auditing.

On behalf of the SAV, Dung voted to approve the Minutes of the 59th meeting of the ASOSAI Governing Board presented by a Thai SAI representative.

As planned, from September 24-27, the SAV delegation will attend the opening session, and the first and second plenary sessions of the 16th ASOSAI Assembly, and have bilateral meetings with partner SAIs.

As one of the seven regional groups of INTOSAI, ASOSAI was established in 1979 with 11 members, which now increasing to 48./.
