Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Thanh (Photo: VNA) As a founder of the World Council onCity Data (WCCD), Thanh highlighted the organisation’s efforts in building ISO standardsof cities in the world. These standards have been used as references for cityleaders to design growth and sustainable development policies as well as plans forstandardised living conditions meeting security, safety and social welfarerequirements, he said.
The deputy minister affirmed that theevent was a chance for city authorities and policymakers to exchange views onideas and solutions on management, and expand connectivity and cooperation forsustainable, prosperous and inclusive growth amidst the ongoing fourthIndustrial Revolution and development of the Internet.
Thanh also presented his ideas onbuilding security, safety and social welfare indexes for a smart city in theworld as well as the application in Vietnam.
He said the development of cities fromeco-cities to economic, green and smart cities is an inevitable trend in the world,adding that urban managers need to share information to ensure the indicationsand sustainable progress in developing smart cities.
Meanwhile, Abdulla Abdul Rahman AlShaibani, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Dubai and CanadianSenator Art Eggleton, Chair of the WCCD’s Global City Leaders Advisory Board, bothunderscored that standardised data is an important tool in building anddeveloping cities in the world.
The use of the database will help cityleaders get an overview of various issues, thus working out sustainabledevelopment plans for their cities, they added.
Themed “Cities on the Global Stage -Data as the Universal Language”, the summit has focused discussions on the importanceof standardised city data as well as leadership solutions and measures to applythe standardised indexes to build sustainable cities and reduce risks.-VNA
