Vietnam attends World Youth Festival

A Vietnamese youth delegation, led by the secretary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Vo Van Thuong, attended the opening ceremony of the 17th World Festival of Youth and Students in Pretoria, South Africa on Dec.14.

The opening in Lucas‘Masterpieces' Moripe Stadium included a parade of the participatingnations; art performances; a torch light procession and military review.

At least 140 delegations are attending the festivalwhich is intended to promote youth in the struggle for peace,solidarity and social transformation.

Vietnam's delegation will explain Vietnam Communist Party and State policiesfor youth at various gatherings over the next eight days.

Their focus will be on workshops to introduce Vietnam; exhibits thatshow Vietnam, the country and its people, and attendinginternational seminars.

They will also attend bilateral meetings with youth from Cuba, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Laos.

The festival - the world's most important youth forum - is held every five years.

Sixteen have been held since the first in 1915./.

Vietnamese film week opens in Greece

The relics will be open for public worship and veneration at Hanoi-based Quan Su Pagoda from 6 am to 9 pm from May 14-16. They will then be transferred to Tam Chuc Pagoda in the northern province of Ha Nam from May 17-21, before being returned to India.

Golf tournament marks 50 years of Vietnam–Germany ties
