Hanoi (VNA) - On June 27, the Michelin Guide 2024 revealed its most extensive list yet, featuring 164 restaurants in major cities. This includes seven one-star Michelin restaurants (two new additions and one upgraded from the Michelin Selected list), 58 Bib Gourmand awardees (28 new entries and one upgrade), and 99 Michelin Selected establishments, with 40 new entries.
This year, Michelin provided Vietnam with prestigious Michelin stars, the Michelin Green Star for sustainable gastronomy, the popular Bib Gourmand awards, and special awards such as the Young Chef Award, Sommelier Award, and Service Award.
Notably, Michelin Green Star was introduced for the first time at the event.
Among the newly added restaurants to the Michelin Guide, Hanoi boasts 10 establishments (five Bib Gourmand and five Michelin Selected). Ho Chi Minh City adds 26 (including two one-star Michelin restaurants, eight Bib Gourmand, and 16 Michelin Selected). Da Nang contributes 36 sites (one one-star Michelin restaurant, 16 Bib Gourmand, and 19 Michelin Selected).
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of Michelin Guides, noted that Da Nang is a new addition to the second edition of the Michelin Guide in Vietnam.
Poullennec said in reality, Vietnam's three cities, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, each possess their own distinct charm and characteristics. The culinary culture of Vietnam reflects abundant energy, passion, and relentless creativity, bringing surprises to the market.
Gwendal Poullennec said that, alongside the trend of renowned chefs opening restaurants in Vietnam, there is a growing collaboration with a new generation of Vietnamese chefs focused on customer-centric approaches. As a result, Vietnam is truly becoming an attractive destination on the global culinary map for both tourists and diners.
In particular, Nen Danang is Vietnam's first restaurant to receive the Michelin Green Star award, honoring pioneers in sustainable gastronomy committed to excellence in food and environmental friendliness.
Moreover, the number of Bib Gourmand awarded venues doubled from last year, totaling 58 establishments.
Among the 29 new additions, 16 are from Da Nang, five from Hanoi, and eight from Ho Chi Minh City.
Some 99 dining establishments (including 40 new entries) are listed in the Michelin Selected category, comprising 33 in Hanoi (including five new ones), 47 in Ho Chi Minh City (including 16 new ones), and 19 in Da Nang (all new names). These restaurants are recognized for their potential to upgrade to Michelin Stars or move to the Bib Gourmand category in the future.
The Michelin Guide's Young Chef Award went to talented chef Duy Nguyen from Little Bear, a Michelin Selected restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Michelin Guide's Sommelier Award was awarded to Toan Nguyen from La Maison 1888, the only restaurant in Da Nang to receive one-star Michelin rating.
The Michelin Guide's Service Award was bestowed upon Anh Nguyen from Si Dining, a Michelin Selected restaurant in Da Nang city./.
