A high-ranking Cambodia delegation led by General Neang Phat, Secretaryof State for the Cambodian Defence Ministry, is on a five-day visit toVietnam from August 21 to boost defence cooperation with the Vietnameseside.
After an official welcome ceremony inHanoi on August 22, the Cambodian delegation held talks with Sen.Lieut. Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, Director of the General Department ofPolitics under the Vietnam People’s Army.
At thetalks, the two sides assessed the results of the implementation of theircooperation plans in 2011 and the first six months of 2012 anddiscussed plans for their future cooperation.
Theyagreed that bilateral defence cooperation between Vietnam andCambodia has seen good results, especially in the exchange ofdelegations, political and ideological work, and human resourcetraining.
Over the past time, the two armies have effectively coordinated in various fields, said Neang Phat.
Sharing views with the Cambodian guest, Lich affirmed that recentbilateral defence cooperation results were clear evidence of thefriendship and solidarity between the two armies.
He suggested that the two sides coordinate in organising activities toraise people’s awareness of the importance of strengthening the tiesbetween the two countries in general and between the two armies inparticular.
The two sides should continue to stepup cooperation in protecting security and order in border areas in orderto build a Vietnam-Cambodia border line of peace, friendship,cooperation and development, he said.
They alsoagreed to continue strengthening cooperation in human resourcedevelopment, the exchange of delegations and the sharing of experiencein political and ideological work.
