Participants at the meeting (Source: VNA) Ottawa (VNA) – A delegation from the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association led by its President Nguyen Viet Tien had an exchange meeting with their peers from the Canada-Vietnam Society in Toronto, Canada on September 14.
The meeting was part of activities of the Vietnamese Culture Week in Canada from September 11-17.
At the event, Tien, who is also Deputy Minister of Health, highlighted that exchange of the two associations will help strengthen connections between people of Vietnam and Canada.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association Nguyen Thi Thu Giang said that the friendship between Vietnam and Canada has developed strongly after the Vietnam visit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in November, 2017 and the Canada visit by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in June, 2018.
Over the past years, the association has held various activities to connect people of both sides, including a logo design contest on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Canada diplomatic relations.
A representative from the Canada-Vietnam Society, Philip Fernandez, said that since the society was formed in 2016, it has developed a network covering many big cities of Canada such as Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Surey.
He expressed his hope to get better understanding of the nation and people of Vietnam and the country’s development in all fields.
Nguyen Dai Trang, a representative of the Canada-Vietnam Society in Toronto, said that the society hopes for more support from the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association in organising visits to Vietnam for Canadian friends, thus giving them deeper understanding of Vietnam and creating foundations for the two countries to enhance its education, economic, cultural partnership and people-to-people exchange.-VNA
