Vietnam chairs UNSC’s debate on enhancing confidence-building
As President of the United Nations Security Council in April 2021, Vietnam organised a high-level open debate on the role of regional organisations in promoting confidence-building and dialogue in conflict prevention and resolution on April 19 via both in-person and online forms.
Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the Vietnamese delegation to the UN, said Vietnam is looking to leave its imprints as the Chair of the United Nations Security Council in April through the Chair’s statements and resolutions built by Vietnam and other council member countries.
Vietnam’s peacekeeping force has worked to enhance the country’s position in promoting the implementation of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), including maintaining sustainable peace around the world, Major General Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, has said.
Vietnam, President of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for April, chaired a videoconference on April 16 to announce Resolution 2570 and 2571 related to Libya, both adopted unanimously.
