Beijing (VNA) – Vietnam’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien and China’s Minister of Culture Luo Shugang agreed to continue realising the common perception of the two countries’ leaders on enhancing bilateral cooperation in culture during their talks in Beijing on January 7.
Looking back at the implementation of the cultural cooperation agreement in the 2016-2018 period, the two ministers highlighted significant outcomes, including the exchange of visits by high-ranking officials of the two ministries.
On the occasion of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President Xi Jinping’s visit to Vietnam in 2017, the two sides launched a centre of Chinese culture in Hanoi.
Vietnam and China also coordinated to organise successfully photo exhibitions titled “Vietnam in the eyes of Chinese photographers” and “China in the eyes of Vietnamese photographers”.
The two ministries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in cultural industry.
The ministers agreed to establish mechanism for annual meetings between officials of the two ministries, and decided on orientation for cultural cooperation in 2019-2021, focusing on the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, art training, and development of the cultural industry.
Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien is making an official visit to China from January 7-9 at the invitation of China’s Minister of Culture Luo Shugang. He is scheduled to hold working sessions with leaders from the China National Tourism Administration, State General Administration of Sports, and attend the opening ceremony of an exhibition of traditional Lunar New Year paintings of Vietnam and China in Beijing.-VNA
