Vietnam, China hold theoretical workshop on reform experience

– The 14th theoretical workshop onVietnam’s renewal realities and experience and China’s open-door policy reformtook place in Ho Chi Minh City on July 6. 

Speaking at the event, head of the Communist Party ofVietnam Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education Vo VanThuong presented a general overview of Vietnam’s 30 years of renewal, fromimportant orientations to guidelines and policies, to great achievements and overallexperience.

In order to achieve the goal of “wealthy people, strongcountry, democracy, fairness, and civilisation”, the Communist Party of Vietnamhas approached reform in a comprehensive and synchronous manner, placingeconomic reform and development as a central task, party-building as crucial,building culture as a spiritual foundation, strengthening nationaldefence-security as a crucial and regular task, and socio-political stabilityas a prerequisite for reform and development.

The head of the Publicity Department at the Communist Partyof China’s Central Committee, Huang Kunming, recalled the historic achievementsof China’s 40-year reform, saying that socialism with Chinese characteristics hasbeen the theme of reform theory and actualities in the country so far.

He highlighted several lessons, both in theory andrealities, on the process of open-door policy reform, especially rule-basedperceptions regarding the building and refinement of socialis market economy institutionsand fuelling prosperity in China.

Both sides shared their experiences on the causes ofsocialism and party building, socio-economic and cultural development, externalrelations work, and global integration. -VNA
