Vietnam condemns the terrorist bombing targeting the Iranian Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon on November 19 which killed 23 people and injured 146 others, said the Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Spokesperson Le Hai Binh.
Binh made the statement during the ministry’s regular press conference on November 21 in Hanoi while answering reporters’ question on Vietnam ’s comments on the bombing.
“We would like to extend our deep sympathy to the victims’ families and believe that the guilty will be punished adequately,” Binh said.
Answering questions on the current situation of Vietnamese citizens affected by typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and support from the Foreign Ministry, Binh said immediately after receiving news on Vietnamese people in hard-hit regions, the ministry directed the Vietnamese Embassy in the country to coordinated with the local government to promptly approach the sites.
As of November 21, the embassy has contacted all Vietnamese citizens in Tacloban city and neighbouring areas. No deaths have been reported and all Vietnamese people there are in a sound condition, he said.
The embassy is keeping a close eye on the situation and will work with the local government and authorised agencies to support and create all possible conditions for the Vietnamese citizens to either settle their lives or return to the homeland, he added.-VNA
