Vietnam considers anti-dumping investigation into imported steel

Domestic businesses demanded an anti-dumping investigation into a number of imported steel products.

Radiothe Voice of Vietnam (VOV) website quoted the Vietnam CompetitionAuthority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)as saying thattwo local firms - Posco VST and Hoa Binh Innox – have sent legaldossiers asking to levy anti-dumping taxes on cold-rolled stainlesssteel imported from China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Vietnam’sordinance on anti-dumping tariffs on imported goods into Vietnamstipulates that the legal dossiers will be handled within 60 days, andthe final decision will be made by the MoIT on whether it will conductthe investigation or not.

Last year, the Ministry of Financeimposed anti-dumping taxes on steel and hot sheet imported from China(10.47 percent), Singapore (12.33 percent) and Ukraine (12.5 percent).-VNA
