Vietnam, Cuba boost youth exchanges

Hanoi (VNA) –
The Ho Chi Minh CommunistYouth Union (HCYU) and the Young Communist League (UJC) of Cuba signed anagreement to boost cooperation activities during the State visit to Cuba fromMarch 28-30 by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.

First Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee LeQuoc Phong, who accompanied the Pary chief during the visit, told Vietnam News Agency that the agreement aims to educate youngsters aboutthe friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, which was nurtured by Presidents HoChi Minh and Fidel Castro and generations of leaders of the two countries.

Vietnamese and Cuban youngsters will enhancecooperation in various fields, such as encouraging youths to engage insocio-economic development and do scientific research in the respectivecountries, Phong said.

The two sides will help localities in Vietnamand Cuba set up twin ties and bring more Vietnamese youngsters to Cuba and viceversa to increase their mutual understanding, he added.

In the next five years, with the support ofVietnamese and Cuban leaders, the two countries’ youngsters are expected to nurtureand deepen bilateral relations, he noted.

The HCYU Central Committee has prepared some activitiesthis year to celebrate the 45th anniversary of President Fidel Castro’shistoric visit to a newly liberated area in Quang Tri, the fiercest battlefieldin the anti-US war of Vietnam, in 1973, to help Vietnamese and Cuban young people learnabout this event, he said.-VNA

Second government legislation meeting reviews draft bills
