Vietnam-Czech agreement on transfer of sentenced persons ratified

Vietnam and the Czech Republic on May 3 signed a document on the ratification and implementation of the agreement on the transfer of sentenced persons between the two countries.

– Vietnam and theCzech Republic on May 3 signed a document on the ratification andimplementation of the agreement on the transfer of sentenced persons betweenthe two countries.

The document was inked byrepresentatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic and theInternational Law Department under the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the agreement’s article 16,it will come into force on July 2, 2019, 60 days after the exchange of the approvaldocuments.

Earlier, Vietnam and the Czech Republiccompleted necessary procedures ratifying the agreement on cooperation incombating crimes, which became effective on February 12, 2019.

The agreement on the transfer ofsentenced persons and the agreement on cooperation in combating crime werereached during the State visit to Vietnam by Czech President Milos Zeman in June 2017.

The ratification and implementation of the two legal documents isexpected to create more legal foundations and corridors for the two countries tocooperate in the fight against crimes, and mark positive developments andpromote the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnamand the Czech Republic in the time ahead.-VNA
