Paris (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in France on May 7 presented over15,000 face masks to both Vietnamese and French associations as the countrycontinues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

The face masks weresent to the Overseas Vietnamese Association, the Vietnamese Students’Association, the France-Vietnam Friendship Association, the France-VietnamFriendship Parliamentarians’ Groups in the French Senate and National Assembly,the Communist Party of France and the City Halls of Paris, Montreuil and Choisyle Roi.

Ambassador NguyenThiep said the French friends were touched by Vietnam’s gifts.

Stéphanie Do,President of the France-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group in theNational Assembly, expressed her gratitude for the timely support.

She pledged todistribute the face masks to elderly locals.

France is one of theWestern European nations hardest hit by the disease. As of May 7, it had reported137,779 confirmed cases and 25,987 fatalities./.

Two wanted for abusing religious cover to undermine national unity policy

The fugitives are Di (also known as Siu Di), born in 1941, and Dinh Yum (also known as Dinh Jum or Ba Koih), born in 1963, from Ba Na ethnic minority group in Gia Lai province, and hold Vietnamese nationality. They have been charged under Clause 1, Article 116 of the Penal Code for undermining the national unity policy.

Support delivered to Khmer households for traditional New Year
