Vietnam earns 6.15 billion USD from wood exports

Hanoi (VNA) – The exportturnover of Vietnamese wood and wooden products is estimated at 6.15 billionUSD since the beginning of this year, up 10.1 percent year on year.

According to the Ministry ofAgriculture and Rural Development, the US, China, and Japan were the biggestimporters of Vietnamese wood and wooden products.

In the period, markets posting highgrowth rates included the US (18.8 percent), Canada (15.1 percent), theRepublic of Korea (11.1 percent) and China (9.1 percent).

[Wood, timber product exports to hit 8 billion USD]

Experts said that the goal of 8billion USD in wood exports this year is feasible as the main season for woodexports is the last three months of the year.

Vietnam imports a large amount of woodmaterials worth 1.7-1.8 billion USD annually, equivalent to about 20-30 percentof export turnover.-VNA

Regarding the ongoing negotiations on a Reciprocal Trade Agreement between the two countries, he emphasised that Vietnam remains consistent in its approach to the talks with the US, aiming for a bilateral agreement based on respect for sovereignty, independence, political system, harmonisation and balance of interests, as well as in line with international commitments and the development level of each country.
