Vietnam enhances ties with India’s Karnataka state

Vietnam desires to enhance cooperation in the areas of information technology, bio-technology, and human resource training with the Indian state of Karnataka, said National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.

Chairman Trong stressed the further promotion of exchanges andcooperation through parliamentary channels as well as betweenlocalities in Vietnam and Karnataka at his talks with the state’sGovernor H.B. Bhardwaj during his current visit to India .

Vietnam and India treasure their long-lasting relationship, withties that were established and fostered by late President Ho Chi Minhand late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Chairman Trong said,emphasising the need for both sides to continue to build on this legacy.

Governor Bhardwaj expressed pleasure with current cooperation projectsin oil and gas, affirming his willingness to do his utmost to enhancesimilar efforts in areas of focus for Vietnam such as aerospace andhigh technology and infrastructure construction.

The Governor stressed the need to maintain and promote the spirit oftheir traditional ties among the younger generations of both countries.

Collaboration between the two legislatures will be of greatsignificance in promoting forward progress of the two democracies,contributing to developing the India-Vietnam strategic partnership, headded.

Also on the same day, Chairman Trong met with Chairman of the KarnatakaLegislative Council Sri V. Mathikatti and Secretary of KarnatakaLegislative Assembly S.B. Patil.

The chairman expressed his wish to boost multi-faceted cooperation withIndia , including Karnataka state. He said he hoped that Karnataka,with its great potential and strength, will accelerate joint effortswith Vietnam and assist the country in terms of information technology,as well as exchange programmes between the two legislative bodies.

Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and his delegation also visited the IndianInstitute of Science, and the information technology and softwareindustry centre Infosys./.

Cambodian media give heavy coverage to Vietnamese PM’s visit

The Khmer Times reported that the two PMs witnessed the signing of six agreements spanning national security, drug prevention and control, trade, culture and education.
