Vietnam are through to the quarter-finals of the AFC Asian Cup after beating Jordan 4-2 in a penalty shootout at Al-Maktoum Stadium in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates on January 21 night.
The first knockout game of AFC Asian Cup 2019 was tense for more than two hours.
Vietnam entered the game considered the underdog, being one of the third-ranked teams selected from the group stage, while Jordan topped their group by beating the defending champions Australia.
Vietnam glowed bright red later the night as celebrations took place every corner of big cities in the country cheering the victory freshly claimed by national football team.
This victory marks the second time Vietnam has entered the AFC Asian Cup quarterfinals. The first time was at the 14th edition of AFC Asian Cup co-hosted by four nations: Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam in 2007.-VNA
