A high-ranking Vietnamese military officer has expressed his hope that the Party, State and Government of Cuba will continue creating conditions to further defence ties between the two countries in the coming time.
At the October 24 meeting with Second Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party (CCP) Jose Ramon Machado Ventura in Havana , Sen. Lieut. Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, head of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army, underlined the role and the significance of cooperation between the two armies’ political agencies in building strong armies.
Cuba is always in the heart of Vietnamese people, he said, adding that Vietnam ’s policy prioritises cooperation with the Caribbean country in order to further tighten the traditional and faithful fraternal relationship as well as comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, Lich said.
Lich, who is also Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, thanked the Cuban people for their warm sentiments towards Vietnam during the past struggle for national liberation and the current renewal and development process.
He briefed his host on the outcomes of cooperation in Party and politics work between the two armies over the past time, especially the teaching of traditions and personnel training.
The cooperation has brought about practical results, contributing to the cause of national construction and defence in each country, he affirmed.
For his part, Machado Ventura, who is also Vice President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers of Cuba, expressed his belief that Lich’s visit will contribute to tightening the special fraternal relationship between the two countries.
While affirming Cuba ’s special sentiments towards Vietnam , the leader reiterated Fidel Castro’s statement that “For Vietnam, Cuba is ready to shed its blood”.
Cuba will do its utmost to cultivate its faithful ties with Vietnam while supporting and creating conditions for the two countries’ armies to cooperate practically and fulfil tasks assigned by the Party and people, he said.
Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation visited the the General Antonio Maceo Joint Service School and the General Maximo Gomez Military Academy.
Later on in the day, the delegation left Cuba , wrapping up its successfully visit.-VNA
