HCM City (VNA) – Vietnam Foodexpo2023 opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) in Ho ChiMinh City on November 22.

The four-day event features more than 500 booths of nearly400 domestic and international enterprises, including businesses from 30Vietnamese cities and provinces and more than 20 countries and territories such as theUS, Russia, Australia, China, the Republic of Korea, Japan.

On display are a wide range of agricultural products, aquatic products, processed foodstuff and beverages, as well as food processing, preservation and packaging technologies andequipment, among others.

Organic food production and processing are aninevitable trend of the Vietnamese food industry, therefore the event has gathered many local and foreign organic brands with high quality products, meeting theneeds and trends of healthy living in the country.

The event is also an opportunity to connect Vietnameseenterprises with partners, boost trade and investment promotion, anddevelop the food industry.

A highlight of the eventis the presence of booths from the Biotrade project with the theme " Biodiversity: Where flavors harmonise". More than 20 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia have introduced more than 200 items such as spices, seeds (peanuts, beans, sesame), rice, coconut,palmyra, tea, coffee which are cultivated and produced according tointernational standards./.

Lao Cai rolls out measures to develop logistics, e-commerce

Vietnamese rice attracts Japanese consumers

Takashi Takanashi, head of the Spice House Co., a company based in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, specialising in wholesale imported food for restaurants and retailers, said his company is receiving increasing requests for Vietnamese rice, he said.

Tax revenue from e-commerce surges

According to the department, 130 foreign suppliers, including Google and Facebook, have registered, declared, and paid taxes through the electronic tax portal for foreign providers, contributing a total of 2.91 trillion VND (114 million USD).

Vietnam’s coffee exports reach 1.72 billion USD in first two months

Nguyen Duc Dung, Deputy General Director of the Mercantile Exchange of Vietnam (MXV), noted that coffee prices in the global market rose sharply. As a result, Vietnam's coffee export value increased by over 37% during this period, though its export volume decreased by 22%.
