Vietnam have been promoted to Division I of the International Tennis Federation (ITF)’s Asia 14 and Under Championships next year after claiming the first place in the 2015 edition of Division II in Ho Chi Minh City.

With two boys’ singles titles, two boys’ doubles titles and two second-placed finishes, Vietnam accumulated 1,410 points in total to get the promotion, despite disappointing results from girl players.

Nguyen Van Phuong and Hoang Hung of Vietnam, who twice reached the boys’ single finals, were given the wild card to play in the ITF Asian U14 Group I championships this year.

The ITF Asian 14 and Under Group II Championships took place in HCM City, which wrapped up on January 28, attracted a total of 65 players, including 28 girls, from 12 teams – ITF Team, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Cambodia, Bhutan, Myanmar, Macau, Mongolia and host Vietnam.-VNA
