Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh proposed the Security Council of the Russian Federation (SCRF) continue to share its expertise with Vietnam on border protection, security of information and personnel training.
Cooperation between the two sides would contribute to fostering the defence partnership between the two countries, as well as ensuring security, public order and national sovereignty, General Thanh said in a meeting with SCRF Deputy Secretary Yevgeny Lukyanov in Hanoi on October 9.
He also expressed his delight at the growing comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Russia in all fields, including security and defence, as well as the sound affiliation between his ministry and the SCRF.
On his part, Lukyanov said he hoped the in-depth coordination between Vietnam ’s Ministry of Defence and the SCRF would develop further in the future, benefitting all aspects of their cooperation.
On the same day, Deputy Minister of Public Security To Lam hosted a reception for Lukyanov, during which he expressed his pleasure that the Vietnam–Russia bilateral strategic relationship had developed considerably over recent years, particularly in the field of security.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed to boost their in-depth security ties in a bid to promote national security and public safety, and tackle transboundary and cyber crime.-VNA
