In his interview with the Spanish version of the BBC, Ramoneda saidamong Southeast Asian nations, Vietnam was the biggest exporter to theUS in 2014.

He also quoted statistics thatVietnam saw an increase in foreign-direct-investment capital, boasted a67 percent growth in January and the country is emerging as the topdestination for Asian investors.

According tothe scholar, the nation’s young workforce, strategic geopoliticalposition, and long-term economic plans are the major contributingfactors to the positive economic outcomes.

Healso approved the Southeast Asian country’s policy to diversify exportcommodities, ranging from agricultural products to industrial andelectronic products.

He noted that Vietnam nowis the main production base of many multinational companies such as theRepublic of Korea’s phone producer Samsung and Japan’s printer makingcompany Kyocera.

Looking forward, Vietnam needsto invest in science and technology to increase product added values aswell as develop Vietnamese-brand products, Ramoneda suggested.-VNA

Vietnam, RoK step up cooperation in transport infrastructure

Minh noted that in transport, the RoK is currently Vietnam’s second-largest bilateral donor. Since 1996, the Korean Government has provided significant capital for Vietnam’s transport infrastructure, with nine projects completed to date, totalling over 1 billion USD, and six others underway worth nearly 600 million USD.
