Vietnam, India to jointly develop IT, communications

New Delhi (VNA) – Vietnamis interested in India’s experience in e-government and information securityand safety, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan toldIndian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi ShankarPrasad during their talks in New Delhi on March 28.

Minister Tuan hailed the Indiangovernment’s supply of 1 billion USD to ASEAN connectivity projects, includingthose in Vietnam, and wished to closely partner with the Indian Ministry ofCommunications and Information Technology.

He took the occasion to ask India toshare experience in policymaking in information safety and updating informationinsecurity trends in the region and the world.

The guest hoped that India would openmanagement training courses for Vietnamese officials in IT and communications,with a focus on e-government structure and technology.

Prasad, for his part, stated thatIndia is willing to share experience with Vietnam, firstly in training and assistingsmall and medium-sized IT enterprises, especially those in rural areas.

Host and guest witnessed the signingof an agreement on the establishment of a joint working group between the twoministries and agreed that the group would discuss detail ways ofcollaboration.

Following the talks, Minister Tuanmet General Director of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce andIndustry and attended the Vietnam-India IT and communications business forum,during which he pledged all possible support for Indian firms to join ITprojects in Vietnam.

He expressed his belief that Indianenterprises, with their strength in capital, expertise and technology, wouldfind partnership and investment opportunities in the field in Vietnam.

During a meeting with SecretaryGeneral of the All India Peace & Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO) PallabSengupta, Tuan, in his capacity as Chairman of the Vietnam-India FriendshipAssociation (VIFA), wished that the VIFA and AIPSO would further diversifytheir activities and push forward the extensive and practical development ofthe Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership.

Both sides promised to hold the ninthVietnam-India people’s friendship festival on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversary of strategicpartnership.

During a reception for President ofthe India-Vietnam Solidarity Committee in West Bengal State Greetesh Sharma,Tuan informed the host that the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations andthe Vietnam – India Friendship Association have partnered with the India –Vietnam Solidarity Committee and the Vietnam-India Solidarity Committee to holdpractical events to raise mutual understanding between the two peoples.

Visiting the headquarters of theruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a day earlier, Tuan expressed his delightat significant and comprehensive progresses that India has scored during thenational construction and development, in which, BJP played an important role.

Head of the BJP’s Department ofForeign Affairs Vijay Chauthaiwale affirmed that BJP and Indian Prime MinisterNarenda Modi are always consistent in the “Act East” policy and wished tofurther increase bilateral friendship in the foreseeable future.-VNA
