Speaking at a ceremony to mark the 65 th anniversary of Indonesian National Day (August 17) in Ho Chi Minh City on August 19, Indonesian acting Consul General in HCM City Dalton Sambiring said Vietnam and Indonesia have organised a number of senior officials’ meetings, and increased socio-economic cooperation, cultural exchange and humanitarian activities.

Vietnam and Indonesia have supported each other at both regional and international frameworks, he said.

On behalf of the Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-Indonesia HCM City Friendship Association (VIHFA), Le Thanh Ton, VIHFA Vice Chairman extended his congratulations over the National Day to Indonesian people, stressing that Vietnam always considers Indonesia a strategic partner.

He also thanked Indonesia for its support to Vietnam in both bilateral and multilateral aspects.

Vietnam desires that Indonesia continue its support, especially with Vietnam assuming the Chairs of ASEAN and Asean Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) 2010, he said.

The two sides shared viewpoints that both Vietnam and Indonesia need to continue to expand and raise relations to a higher level to match the two countries’ development potential./.
