Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The Vietnam International Fashion Tour (VIFT) will beheld in various cities and provinces in 2022 and 2023 to promote local tourismand culture.

Organised by Voyage Group, IEX Group and Vietnamese fashion brand S DesignerHouse, VIFT gathers 40 international brands/designers and 1,000 modelsperforming in eight fashion shows in five cities and provinces.

The fashion tour also includes a series of meaningful activities like acharity programme to raise funds for disadvantaged children to go to school,model casting and a reality show to experience traditional culturalvalues.

VIFT has no limits, using wild natural beauty and unique architectureas backdrops for the catwalk to create a fashion experience combined withtravel.

According to designer Le Tran Dac Ngoc, President of VIFT, besides updating newfashion trends and connecting designers, fashionistas and audiences, VIFTalso focuses on promoting Vietnamese culture and tourism through fashion showsheld at many famous landmarks in the country, contributing to the promotion ofVietnamese culture and tourism.

The collections performed at the VIFT will be themed and inspired by thedestinations themselves, bringing them in line with the local landscape andculture.

This is the first fashion project in Vietnam to apply virtual realitytechnology. VIFT will open a "virtual universe," including thefirst virtual trade centre for all industries in Vietnam, a virtual fashioncatwalk and accompanying cultural events. It promises to be a rendezvous forfashionistas and an optimistic bright spot for Vietnamese fashion and tourismsectors after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Vietnam is endowed with many wonderful natural landscapes, and this isalways an endless source of inspiration for fashion. Meanwhile, the traditionalcatwalks are often held indoors with limited space, lack breakthroughs infashion experience and do not take advantage of the beauty of nature,"Ngoc said.

VIFT will take place in five cities and provinces: Quang Ninh on August28, 2022; Lao Cai on October 30, 2022; Hanoi from December 25, 2022, toDecember 31, 2023; Hoa Binh on June 25, 2023, and Ninh Binh on August 27, 2023.

Each event will comprise a model casting, fashion show and exhibition ofcollections performed at the show.

The organising board revealed that participating brands include S DesignerHouse with a collection combining the culture of three regions of the country,Y Van Hien with a collection of traditional dresses and Tuyet Nhung Bridal withthe collection Dreams Come True honouring the beauty of womenin white./.

Organised by the municipal People’s Committee in coordination with the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, the programme recreated a range of ceremonial practices once performed in the royal court. These included the Tien lich ritual, in which calendars were formally distributed to the court and the public; the Thuong tieu ceremony featuring the ceremonial New Year pole erected to ward off evil spirits and welcome spring; the ritual release of carp to send the Kitchen Gods to heaven; and the solemn changing-of-the-guard ceremony inside the imperial citadel. Together, the activities helped audiences better understand the cultural, spiritual and ceremonial order of Vietnam’s feudal past.

Fireworks, festive events usher in Year of the Horse across Vietnam

Stamp set, coin issued to mark Year of the Horse

In traditional beliefs, the horse is a sacred animal symbolising loyalty, vigour, patience and perseverance, and is also believed to bring good fortune and prosperity. Drawing on this symbolism, the stamp set is presented in a contemporary folk-art style and, for the first time, features the image of the “Nine Red-Maned Horse” on Vietnam’s Tet stamps.
