Rome (VNA) – A delegation of theVietnam Women’s Union (VWU) led by its Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu Ha paid avisit to Italy on March 21-26.

While in Italy, the delegation attended workingsessions with Secretary-General of the Italian Ministry ofForeign Affairs Elisabetta Belloni, President of the Foreigner and European Affairs Committee of the Chamberof Deputies Marta Grande, along with leaders of the ItalianPrime Minister’s office on equality.

At the sessions, Ha informed her hosts onsocio-economic achievements of Vietnam over the years, along with the VWU andits concerns.

The two sides expressed their delight asthe Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership has enjoyed positive developments sinceits establishment in 2013.

They agreed to continue to exchangeinformation and experiences on issues of gender equality and female human resources,as well as to connect and build the cooperation between the VWU and Italianpartners.

The Vietnamese delegation also discussedthe ASEAN-Italy High-level Dialogue with leaders of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is scheduled to take place inHanoi this June. They consented to study the possibility of organising an eventon the sidelines of the dialogue.

At the session with leaders of Italian Prime Minister’s office on equality, the delegation spokehighly of Italy’s achievements in bolstering women rights.

Italy is among countries of the European Union with highest number of female members in the parliament, only after NorthernEuropean nations. The rate of female leaders in listed private companies inItaly currently stands at 33.5 percent.

Afterwards, the Vietnamese delegation willpay a working visit to Germany until March 30. -VNA

K’Ho ethnic minority group in Lam Dong province looks forward to Election Day

Lac Duong commune is a remote locality largely inhabited by the K’Ho ethnic minority in Lam Dong. The commune has 15 villages with more than 14,000 residents in 3,119 households and 8,799 registered voters. Hanoi customs seize suspected gold smuggled by four passengers at Noi Bai airport

The inspection revealed that passenger P.T.H. had concealed 10 pieces of the metal, weighing about 5 kg, inside her bra and underwear. Passenger V.T.M. hid five pieces totalking roughly 1.1 kg beneath underwear. Passenger N.V.L. concealed nine pieces amounting to around 3.5 kg, while passenger C.S.M.H. hid seven pieces weighing some 2.7 kg under underwear and on the wrist.
