Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yasuaki Tanizaki on April 24 worked with leaders of Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City on the construction of a friendship hospital in the city.
The ambassador said the plan on building Cho Ray Vietnam-Japan Friendship Hospital, discussed by the two countries’ prime ministers earlier this year, is a meaningful project and in line with Japan’s aid policy to Vietnam.
Tanizaki said he believes that the friendship hospital will contribute to strengthening ties between the two countries.
Japan will continue supporting Vietnam in both capital and human resources in the field, while implementing training programmes for medical workers in local hospitals, he said.
Besides, Japan maintains cooperation programmes with central medical institutions such as Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City , Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi and Hue Central Hospital, he added.
He suggested Vietnam and Japan further their cooperation in health and education.
To solve the current patient overloading at Cho Ray Hospital, the Vietnamese Government is also considering a plan on the construction of a new establishment with 1,000 patient beds for the hospital.-VNA
