– Leaders of the General Staff of the People’s Army of Vietnam and Laoshave stressed the strengthening of coordination in preventing and combatinghostile sabotage plots to undermine the special solidarity between Vietnam andLaos and the respective countries’ nation-building cause.

The agreement wasreached during the talks in Hanoi on March 20 between Sen. Lieut. Gen. Phan VanGiang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and DeputyDefence Minister and Sen. Lieut. Gen. Suvon Luongbunmi, Chief of the GeneralStaff of the Laos People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister.

The talks took place at a time when the two countries have freshly finishedmany activities marking the 40th anniversary of the signing of theVietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty and the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2017.

They noted that thetwo countries’ defence ties have been deepened, as evidenced by the latestofficial visit to Laos by Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich in January,2018.

While discussing regional and international issues of shared concern, theyunderscored the need to increase the special solidarity and friendship as wellas mutual coordination to contribute to firmly defending the respective countriesand tightening their comprehensive cooperation and special ties.-VNA

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
