The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations in collaboration with its Laos counterpart held a friendship exchange from July 25-27 in Laos’ Khammuane province, aiming to strengthen their cooperative ties and promote the Vietnam-Lao traditional relations.
As the eighth event of its kind, the exchange offered a chance for representatives from the two commissions to update information and share experience in foreign affairs. Cultural and sport exchanges and art performances were included in the event.
Addressing the event, Sunthone Sayachath, Head of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, said this is a traditional activity between the two agencies and that they will work closely to reinforce their ties to strengthen the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.
In his speech, Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan highlighted the significance of the event, saying it is necessary for the two sides to learn from each other and thus improve their leadership and consultancy capacity.
The event will help the two commissions’ young staff to gain a deeper understanding of the two countries’ land, people and culture, Quan added.
On the occasion, the two commissions’ representatives paid tribute to and laid wreath at the Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh’s Memorial Site in Xiangvang village in Nongboc district and the Lao General Secretary and President Kaysone Phomvihane Museum in Khammuane province.
The two commissions are scheduled to organise a similar exchange in Vietnam’s central Nghe An province from July 28-29.-VNA
