Vientiane (VNA) – Vietnam and Laos have agreed on ways to fight sabotage plots by hostile forces, protect security and safety at major events and combat organised, drug and human trafficking and cyber crimes.
The agreement was reached during the talks between Lao Minister of Security Somkeo Silavong and Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang in Vientiane on December 23.
Both sides will work closely together to arrest criminals fleeing to each country and launch negotiations towards signing agreements on criminal extradition and transfer of convicts.
Other cooperative areas include personnel training and equipment supply.
Reviewing bilateral partnership over the past time, host and guest hailed effective cooperation between their public security forces, particularly in fighting trans-national, economic, criminal and drug crimes in border areas.
Concluding the event, the two ministers signed a plan to launch a cooperation agreement between the two ministries next year.-VNA
